Pollards in Borrowdale

It is great to see that veteran tree peepers can still be impressed seeing old trees! They were contemplating whether the oak was a manmade pollard or a natural one. The ash was relatively recently pollarded by the National Trust team, mainly to make sure the pollards won't be blown over so that they remain an important feature in Cumbria's landscape. As always, the yew inspired for much contemplative thought!
